We are excited to announce Jen Kingwell’s appliqué and piecing Template of the Month program in 2025 – Pick a Petal featuring her new range with Moda called “Mixed Bag”.

Jen Kingwell says, “I think Spring is my favourite season. After the grey days of winter, I get excited for the crisp mornings that shimmer with sunlight and hint at the warmth of Summer fast approaching. My garden begins to explode with vibrant colours and as I watch the butterflies and bees dance among the blooms, I can’t help but feel my heart stir with joy and hope. When designing Pick A Petal, I knew I wanted to capture the essence of Spring by weaving together the beauty and colour that this season brings to my world. Using a mix of hand piecing, needle-turn appliqué and a range of stitch techniques I began my journey to create Pick A Petal. I love the way combining these techniques creates layers of detail and interest to a project. I embellished the appliqué borders with butterflies, flowers, and fruits to further evoke the spirit of Spring. The inspiration from Spring extended beyond the quilt, sparking the creation of my new fabric ranges with Moda. I’ve recoloured these fabrics to perfectly complement the playful and whimsical feel of this design. I’m known as a scrap quilter and so I knew I wanted my ‘Mixed Bag’ ranges to reflect this: The colour palette is bright and fun mixing a range of prints. I hope you enjoy this journey with me as much as I enjoyed the process of creating this design.”

Pick a Petal is a 6 month program available as TEMPLATES ONLY or COMPLETE INCLUDING FABRIC.

• Pattern & Templates Only Option: You will receive the Pattern, Instructions, and Templates every month for 6 months; plus access to the videos and the BOM Facebook group. Just NO FABRIC! Please note – there are no templates in Month 4. You will still be billed in this month as the cost of the program is split over 6 months.
• BOM With Fabric Option: In addition to the Pattern, Instructions, and Templates, and all Facebook and video access, you will receive an assortment of beautiful fabrics from Jen’s Mixed Bag range every month for 6 months to complete your quilt top.

Things you need to know:

• Finished quilt measures 72″ x 72″.
• Program runs for 6 months. Each month you will receive:
  • Printed instructions and acrylic and mylar templates. PLEASE NOTE: THERE ARE NO TEMPLATES IN MONTH FOUR.
  • Free access to Jen’s online piecing and appliqué classes.
  • Access to a private facebook group for the Pick A Petal BOM run by Jen Kingwell Designs
  • Monthly hints and tips videos by Jen Kingwell to help piece each block (via the group Facebook page)
  • Fabrics for the quilt top if you have signed up for the “With Fabric” Option.
• Additional extras:
  • 10% discount with month 6 on backing fabrics
  • 10% discount on having your quilt top longarm quilted at Sew Hot

  • The Club price is marked “free trial”, which is an administrative tag only. This allows you to sign up now, but tells our website not to charge you until the beginning of the Club, which is 15 May 2025. It does not indicate you will receive any materials for free.
