Description

From the Queen of Curves (@Pappersaxten on IG) comes the gorgeous Hole Lotta Luv Quilt! If you have always fancied playing with angles, curves and perspective, come learn from the expert herself!

In this workshop we’ll play with perspective. With use of angles and a few variations of the Drunkard’s Path block we build what Jenny calls ‘holes and pegs in boxes’. But there will be lots of room for creative interpretation and help from Jenny to build your own block.

We’ll cut curves using Jenny’s Drunkard’s Path templates and she’ll share my tips and tricks on how to sew no-pin machine-pieced curves in different sizes. Piecing the blocks and achieving perfectly matching seams is made easy with the templates.

Learning Objectives:

  • How to confidently sew curves using no pins.
  • Cutting big and small curves using perspex templates.
  • Sew curves/ovals where the ease is different at one end of the curve compared to the other.
  • Pressing curves.
  • Perfect seam-matching when seams are pressed open.
  • How to use the Drunkard’s Path block to design your own unique perspective quilt.
  • In this class you will make one block, and leave with all the knowledge you need to make more at home to complete your quilt.

About your teacher:   A Swedish exile having spent the previous 18 years in Hackney, Jenny Haynes (n̩e Nilsson) studied Pattern Cutting and Tailoring in her native Stockholm. Soon after, she followed her passion for fabrics and moved to London to study Fashion and Textiles at the London College of Fashion. She went on to develop her own label ‘Papper, Sax, Sten’ (that’s ‘Paper, Scissors, Stone’ if you’re wondering!), working with textiles that reflect these different influences. Her bespoke quilts and furnishings are recognised for their clean and simple, mid-century modern design. Often mixing vintage fabrics with modern prints, rich colours with pastels, wool and silk with linen and cotton, while remaining faithful to her Scandinavian roots. This was recognised in Summer ’15 when Jenny was invited by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce, along with 18 other Swedish designers, to be a part of Heal’s Swedish Summer Exhibition. Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed takes 7-10 days on average. However, parcels are stopped by customs and can take several weeks to clear customs. Your tracking number will be added to your order when it is shipped so you should be able to keep an eye on where your parcel is in the process.

All international orders are NOT charged VAT at checkout and therefore will be stopped at customs and the correct VAT will be charged for your country at that point. We legally have to declare all items in the parcel and the correct invoice total for the parcel.

We accept returns of unused, unopened items in saleable condition within 30 days of the order.

We do not accept returns of cut fabric as this has been cut off the bolt specifically for your order.

Please contact us on staff@sewhot.co.uk to let us know if you are returning an item. Return postage is not paid unless the item being returned is faulty or damaged.

Combining or Changing Orders

We are always happy to combine, change, or add to orders to help you save on shipping costs.
